Every year the Rafting Club run a Guides Course over the Easter long weekend. This is a great opportunity to learn basic guiding skills along with other complementary topics such as white water safety, understanding river features, white water rescue techniques, basic knots and a whole lot of other on-river skills that will make you a much more confident rafter.
We don’t require any level of experience to join this course, just a whole lot of enthusiasm about rafting and a desire to learn a bit whilst also having a whole lot of fun. We also welcome members of all skill ranges to join in if they want a refresher or just a fun weekend away. We like to keep the whole weekend fairly low-key, with a focus on practical rafting exercises and lots of on-river time, and we throw a themed cocktail party on the Sunday night to celebrate the end of the course.
We’re still working out the details of the location and cost and we’ll keep you updated on that as soon as we know. For the time being, you can express your interest in attending by checking out the Guides Course 2015 Event and sending us an email to let us know you’d like to come. Then we can be sure that we keep you updated as we add further details to the event.
We hope to see you there. We’re going to have a great time!
