The Picton is a lovely river south of Hobart, near the Tahune forest airwalk (past Geeveston). The river features a few grade 3 rapids and so cruisy rafting in between. This is an all day trip and will return in the evening. You will need to bring a packed lunch and snacks for on river and some money to contribute to petrol and for bakery any bakery stops! As always bring lots of warm clothes for on and off river, an old pair of shoes to wear on river and any medications. Life jackets, wetsuits and helmets will be provided by the club.
So come join us for some on water fun!!! Join the event on facebook or send us an email!
****A senior guide would be much appreciated for this trip as well as any buddy guides!!****
Orientation Expo and UTAS Open Day – Volunteers Needed!
Expo: Hi guys the UTAS Orientation Expo is on and we need 2-3 volunteers to run or help organise a rafting stall.
We will be taking a small raft, helmets, paddles, some pamphlets and some signage. The event will be indoors where the exams are normally held.
For the new students who sign up on these days we will be running a special intro trip soon (if we get rain *fingers crossed*). Anybody willing to run or help run this event for the rafting club please let yourself be known by signing up for this event on facebook! If you want to run the event hit me up with an email.
Date: Tuesday 8 July, between 12 and 2pm.
Venue: Activities Centre, Tasmania University Union (TUU) Building
Set Up: from 11.00am
Open Day: If anybody would like to run or help out at the clubs stall for UTAS Open Day please sign up and send me a PM.
Its a fun event and a great opportunity to meet a lot of new people!
We will be taking a small raft, helmets, paddles, some pamphlets and some signage. The event will be outdoors so we can do a little skit – like grab the raft run over to the grass, then jump in, call a few commands (e.g. Forward paddle, Back Paddle, get down, Saddle up, Forward paddle, Stop. Portage! We jump out, pick up the raft and run back with our paddles in our free hand shouting “Join the Uni rafting club!”) Looks great, and the uni and TUU love it.
For the new students who sign up on these days we will be running a special intro trip soon (if we get rain *fingers crossed*).
The official event runs from Sunday 31st August, from 10am – 3pm
As always if you have any questions shoot us an email and see you on river!
