Time to do something a bit different!!!
This will be a 4 day trip down the upper Franklin, walking out via Frenchmans Cap. Should be a great combination of stunning wilderness paddling and walking.
Meet at the sheds bright an early at 08:00. We will arrive back late on the 29th of december.
Cost for the trip is $150 which covers petrol and food.
We will be packing very light as the walk out is steep and will be made much harder with lots of heavy gear.
Participants will need to bring the following equipment all bagged up in garbage bags to keep it dry (bring proper dry bags if you have them):
Shoes suitable for both rafting/getting wet and walking (sand shoes with good grip recomended).
Warm clothes for both on river and walking (wetsuits provided as always however if the weather is warm bathers may be a better option to avoid us having to carry out wetsuits). You should only need 2 changes of clothes, one set for on river and walking, the other dry set for sleeping in and at camp. Bring several changes of socks and underwear however. A hat and a solid rain jacket are both essential!!!
Sleeping Pad and Bag. Make sure it’s light weight and warm.
Drink bottle (for walking).
Hiking Pack (can be borrowed so don’t worry if you don’t have one)
Personal gear like toothbrush etc.
On river gear like wetsuits, PFD’s, helmets etc will all be provided. Tarps to camp under, food for the 4 days will also be provided. Any concerns about what you need to bring contact the trip leader. A lot of the other gear can be lent out or rented so contact us before buying anything.
